Nature of Things

Updated: Aug 6, 2019

Note: We are NOT going to discuss academics here but the underlying philosophy of how do we see Nature and how it sees us back.

So what is it really? Yeah, the motion in the video? In a literal philosophical, core sense.. how is it happening? Few of you might say that it is just an interaction of magnetic field lines with moving charge particle through the wire, exerting tangential force producing rotatory motion governed by some physics law.. we urge you to stop right there. That is really not what we are asking!

What we are really asking is, what made it act like that? What is that charge, electron we all talk about? Magnetic field lines are invisible, what does that even mean? What is that basic fundamental, elementary block which makes up all that we see, feel or is hidden from us? Is being unable to see something makes it non-existent? Animals having eyes at the two sides (left, right facing) of their head have a very poor sense of ‘depth’, does that make ‘depth’ non-existent? Of course not, then how do we comprehend what we cannot see and where did it come or originated from? Does everything comes from an origin, can’t it just be a loop running over and over again? Let us give you a little perspective here.

Here is an ant walking from one end of the paper to the other.

What if we just fold the paper to make the two ends meet? This is how it would look like and our little 'ant' will keep on moving without realizing the endlessness of it. Also, if it moves the right way it would just have to take a single step to reach what it might have thought to be the other end.

We just transformed its 2 dimensional motion into a 3 dimensional loop.. oh sorry! for a moment we forgot that we have promised to not to get into all that but you got to admit that there is something really fascinating about it. Think over it. Are you sure that we also are not just an ‘ant’ for some higher dimensional being who knows more, better and has the capability to climb up, slide down on the ladder of TIME just like we do on a three dimensional ladder? Can we be running in a loop endlessly? Are you sure we are not just a tinniest part of a strand of a hair from the head of a much greater, larger being? How are you so sure we are not? Now, don’t ask how are we sure we are because we are not but that is the question.. do we know? Will we ever know? Do we know enough to discover things beyond our capabilities? How does one do that - discovering things restricted (in some manner) out of one’s natural abilities? Will that 'ant' ever be able to understand what just happened?

Now, if you are thinking that an ant is a much smaller, non-brainy, non-thinking 'being' let us tell you that we have witnessed stars thousand times bigger than our Sun and bacteria a millionth time smaller than the tip of our hair. You probably would know that a 'virus' adapts, develop fighting mechanism of its own to defeat ongoing vaccines. Are they not intelligent? What is intelligence anyway? It is the capability to ‘think’, please correct us if you think we are wrong here. Do you think that ‘virus’ is 'thinking'? Is it not called ‘thinking’ if it is done in some different way unknown to us? We see differences in behaviors, attitudes among ourselves which are fundamentally the results of ‘different ways of thinking’ then why can’t we admit the same for that 'virus'? Do you now think that the 'virus' is intelligent? How about a computer then, is it not a brain we have built? Are you sure we ourselves are not being made, experimented upon, improvised, tested, scraped off from time to time by the same much greater multi-dimensional 'being' trying to prove its intelligence, while caught in a bigger loop itself. Where does that loop of loops ends?

We are sure you got the point.

While we are on it, let's think about the whole Universe now. Can it be possible that we are just too small to reach the end of it if at all the end exists just like the bacteria trying to reach the other end of our never ending skin surface or is it possible that there is no end, just an endless loop our limited natural capability is looping inside of just like the 'ant' trying to reach the end of the paper not knowing that the curvature is the result of an actual third dimension or a more disturbing scenario of being experimented upon, tested and scraped off by a higher dimensional being.

Is it not extremely intriguing to realize all of this? That is what we should live for - finding out the mysteries, phenomenon of deep space, deep self, endlessness, unknown, know the unknowable and then pass on the torch to the next generation so that we as a species would discover things beyond our lifetimes and farther.

As Stephen Hawking once said -

It is clear that we are just an advanced breed of primates on a minor planet orbiting around a very average star, in the outer suburb of one among a hundred billion galaxies. BUT, ever since the dawn of civilization people have craved for an understanding of the underlying order of the world. There ought to be something very special about the boundary conditions of the universe. And what can be more special than that there is no boundary? And there should be no boundary to human endeavor. We are all different. However bad life may seem, there is always something you can do, and succeed at. While there is life, there is hope.

Let us all keep exploring!

Ask yourself. Who are you? Are you a parent? Or a teacher? Now, ask yourself. Is there really any difference? When a child looks at you, he doesn't see a parent or a teacher; he only perceives someone
